A more direct approach than my other work, this series romanticizes escapism. The flying cars zoom through sparkled sunsets, desolate deserts, and boundless flower fields. These set pieces are otherworldly, and the cars are metaphors for "vehicles" of escapism. Whether the escape is mental or physical, my art encapsulates the joys and fears of running away from reality.
The vintage cars are an intentional choice. When you drive a manual transmission, you need to delegate some of your attention to the vehicle. You focus on the RPM dial, clutch pedal, and gearstick. You listen to the gears thumping, ready for a potential engine stall. Mentally and physically tethered to the car, your experience is bound to the journey. And the journey is the core concept of this series. It's an expression of wild freedom and lack of responsibility. The destination is unimportant.
