Retrofuturism depicts the future by utilizing technology, fashion, and media from an earlier era. By pairing artifacts from the past with futuristic technology, this art movement examines the relationship between the past and future.
In my portrayal of the future, I use pastel color palettes that were popular in the 1950s and 60s. In this era, American culture romanticized the future. Flying cars and intergalactic space travel were within the realm of possibility. My time-warped style captures the 20th-century optimism for the future. I juxtapose vintage products with sci-fi elements.
As I experimented with this art style, I explored feelings of weightlessness and isolation. In my pieces, there are no planets or space stations. Among the stars and endless blackness, a singular figure floats through space or stands on a lonely rock.
